    May 6th - 10th  13th

Join us in celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week! This week provides us with an opportunity to show our gratitude to all teachers who have inspired and motivated us to expand our knowledge. Teachers aren't just those who choose this as their profession, but also those who devote themselves to sharing their love for Christ with others; be it teaching Sunday school, leading mid-week services or bible studies, or teaching our young people.

    May 12th

    Mother's Day

Join us at 11:00 am for regular service as we celebrate all earthly and heavenly mothers.

    May 31st at 7:00 pm

Join us for an Organ Benefit Concert featuring Jeffery Donnelly.

Since 2008, Jeffrey Donnelly has been the Director of Music and Organist at  St. Paul's  Lutheran Church in Monessen, Pennsylvania.  As an organist and composer, he is devoted to the art of improvisation. Jeffrey has composed nearly 30 works and has transcribed numerous works to the organ.

This recital will consist of works by Debussy, Vierne, Giroud, Peeters, and others; as well as the premiere performance of a new composition.

Please note:  All donations during this event will go towards the cost of the organ restoration. We hope to return the organ to as close as possible to its 1931 condition.  Over the years many alterations have been made that need to be reversed. The organ is currently 59 ranks -3,696 pipes and would be 63 ranks -3,952 pipes when completed.

  • Lydia’s Closet

We are currently in need of personal hygiene products; toothbrushes, travel-sized toothpaste,    deodorant, soaps, and ladies' feminine hygiene products, etc. When making clothing donations, comfortable, casual streetwear that is gently used is what we are in most need of.

Please, call the office during office hours to arrange donation drop-offs during the week.  Donations may also brought on Sundays. If you need the items picked up, please contact Sandy, Ann, or Lisa, to make special arrangements.

  • Micah’s Backpack

    Put yourself in their shoes:

"My stomach rumbles as I walk to my last period. What am I going to eat for dinner? Maybe I could have a slice of toast or something. Mommy is working, so I have to be a big boy and do it myself.

As I walk out of the school to where my bus is waiting I think, I wish it were Friday. Then I could get my white bag from Mrs. Lushbaugh and have a good meal. I’m very thankful for Micah’s Backpack because without it I might be hungry on the weekends."

Micah’s Backpack is a national nonprofit organization that helps to feed kids in need on the weekends during the school year. Students in need often receive free breakfast and free lunch during the week, but don’t have that available on Saturdays or Sundays.

Through Micah’s Backpack program, these community children get the food they need for the weekends. The Micah’s Backpack program at St. Johns Lutheran Church provides meals for 25 local students to take home for the weekend. This bag of food makes a huge difference in the lives of these students at Bester Elementary.

Each bag we make contains 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, 2 fruits, 2 vegetables, and 2 snacks. Our program is sustained by donations from our congregation. Each month, a list of a few food items that you can donate to help out with this ministry will be provided for your convenience.

Single-serve snack packages like pretzels, popcorn, or chip bags as well as more lunch options like Chef Boyardee microwave meals, canned chicken or tuna, and Mac-n-Cheese EZ cups make wonderful additions to the backpacks.
